IBM Announces Big Data Push at IOD

InformationWeek reports on IBM’s move into the communications and healthcare marketplaces by providing analytics software and services.  IBM’s announcment came at the Las Vegas Information On Demand (IOD) conference held this week.

IBM has spent $7.6 billion to purchase major providers Netezza and Cognos to bolster their software offerings.  Additionally, according to the IW article, the healthcare technologies will be based upon IBM’s Watson supercomputer, that recently beat other previous champions of Jeopardy!
