Top Twelve Lessons from Steve Jobs

Guy Kawasaki has written a post on the top lessons he learned from Apple’s co-founder Steve Jobs, who passed away last week. Why should we pay attention to Guy’s lessons? Well, Guy was the chief evangelist for Apple, working directly with Jobs in the early days of the PC, and was critical in cultivating the market

Honoring Steve Jobs

I have been fascinated with the story of Apple ever since I first used an Apple II in school.  The first computer I ever purchased on my own was a Macintosh IIsi on which I wrote my thesis.  Our first personal computer at home was a Macintosh. My wife and I each have iPhones.  We bought an

Data Science Defined

So, what is data science?  There is an increasing buzz about it lately – A Fortune article recently dubbed the “data scientist” as “The Hot New Gig in Tech”. This report is a good primer for the new field of data science.  In some ways (as with many fields), it’s not new at all.  In

NKS Now Available on the iPad

I really like Stephen Wolfram’s book A New Kind of Science (or NKS for short) – on how simple computational programs can create amazingly complex things.  I’m also really enamored with the iPad (I’ve written about it before a number of times…). Now, two of my favorite things are coming together – Wolfram’s NKS is

Another iPad Convert

Ran across this post about falling in love with the iPad.  This guy went ahead and bought one the first day they came out, but wasn’t as impressed as he thought he was going to be.  However, over time, he’s become totally hooked.  I do think that we’re seeing a real change in how people
